Earth Security is working with the United Nations Global Compact to develop their Business Principles for Sustainable Agriculture. Earth Security has developed a strategy paper to help companies and the UNGC think about how to position business principles to impact the broader governance of resources and food security. It has engaged with global agriculture companies, investors, NGOs and governments, bringing to bear its cross-sector network, to develop a strategic report that UNGC’s core group of stakeholders have discussed in workshops in Geneva, New York and Rome over the next five months. The strategy paper will inform a joint Earth Security-UNGC report that will be launched in July 2013.

We are delighted to support this initiative, which is seriously looking at the gaps and barriers in the current global agenda for sustainable agriculture and seeks to build common ground on how different stakeholders work together on this multi-faceted agenda. A background paper that was part of the launching of this initiative in Rio de Janeiro last year can be found here.

Earth Security's report, which integrates the views of different stakeholders, provides an overarching analysis that includes strategic aspects such as government-industry relations, and supports the design of these cross-sector discussions, will lead to the initiative’s white paper, which will be the basis on which the business principles will be developed.
