Private sector companies are becoming acutely aware of the imperative to build resilience to climate change. This is particularly true in the Philippines, one of the five most vulnerable countries to climate change and extreme events. Nature-based solutions to climate adaptation are becoming increasingly recognised as a cost-effective approach to ensure business continuity and resilience, but require new models of public-private engagement to scale beyond pilot projects and create new conditions for growth.
The report presents the outcomes of Earth Security's work with local action partners in the Philippines to mobilise public-private partnerships to scale ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA). The brief also identifies specific policy actions needed to institutionalise and scale these new forms of public-private cooperation in line with the country’s climate adaptation strategy.
