Our Founder & CEO Alejandro Litovsky has joined a high-level advisory board of a joint programme of The Economist and the United Nations that shapes the intelligence for global investors and infrastructure capital to anticipate the growing geo-strategic risks of water stress and conflict.
The Economist Impact - the research arm of The Economist - partnered the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and the Swiss Government toadvance the Blue Peace Finance Initiative. Earth Security's work with UNDCF andthe Swiss Government created the foundational strategy to mobilise thefinancial sector's role in water and conflict. It led in 2018 to thedevelopment of a Blue Peace Bond (Earth Security case study), now being takenforward by this new platform advised by Earth Security.
As an Advisory Board member to this program, Alejandro Litovsky helps steer the creation of a novel investment framework to enable institutional capital, infrastructure investors, bond issuers, operators, and development finance to develop an objective way to assess the investability and readiness of water- and energy-related assets to anticipate and deal with water risks.
The Economist Impact has delivered flagship reports on the economic costs of water stress, as well as the Blue Peace Index,a sovereign analysis of frontier water risks and conflict in a world where climate adaptation is becoming a key imperative.
